What’s new this week? Since my birthday is Friday, my goal is to make it out dancing the entire weekend beginning with La Palapa on Thursday. Have you been there lately? No more sticky carpets on the perimeter of the dance floor. Out with the carpet and in with the wood! That’s in addition to the recent removal of the stage. Now there is plenty of space to dance. On Friday, we have a meetup at the monthly Salsa Block Party with guest instructors Mike Fok and Niss Albaig with SalsaNow. On Saturday, I’m hanging out with a few friends enjoying some wine with my Salsa. Maybe I’ll finish up the weekend at Cancun Cantina. There should be a decent crowd with Monday being a holiday. If you’d prefer to be surrounded by excellent salsa dancers, we have a meetup at Dickeyville studio starting at 5pm on Sunday with DJ Jesus and the DanceInTime instructors. On the downside, I want to report that Friday nights at Umbertos is gone. Unfortunately, the venue failed to support us and Jeri had to cancel.

This venue is an upscale restaurant/lounge/after hours dessert bar. The decor is black, white, red, glass and marble. There’s nothing else like it.

What’s new this week? Feel free to dance your pants off every night, because you can! Friday is a tie between instructor Tabitha’s house party and Zen West. Which will you choose? Wait, don’t think that hard. Go to both! Send me an email if you need more details on Tab’s party. For those who live near DC, Jeri Dembrak started a new salsa night on Fridays at Umberto’s in Wheaton. On Saturday, go to the Fells Point Fun Festival with your family from 11am to 7pm. Admission is free. Congregate at La Plaza Hispana and enjoy live music. La Firma plays at 4:30 pm on Saturday. On Sunday, join the Baltimore Salsa Meetup at the Mari Luna Rooftop Party.

What’s New this week? If you’ve never been to the Harbor East area of Baltimore, now’s your chance. We have a meetup tonight at Talara’s located on the corner of Eastern Avenue and President Street. This place has a very classy atmosphere that I’m sure you will appreciate. Beginning Sep 15, Southern Maryland has a Salsa venue, Tradewinds, located at 5859 Allentown Way in Temple Hills. Von is the promoter, Joe Martinez is the instructor, and the Salsa and Merengue music is provided by DJ Elvon Babyface. Susan is teaching Beg/Int Merengue on Thursday at La Palapa. Beginning Sep 17, DanceInTime’s Salsa Rueda classes are back at UMCP’s Stamp Student Union. On Friday, the Baltimore Salsa Meetup is going to the Block Party with Kaya and Rico. This event is BYOB and most definitely the best party in town!

What’s New this week? As for the Baltimore Salsa Meetup, we have one event planned. Join us on Thursday at 8pm at Zen West. Come on out and see why Salsaholics love this venue. Make the evening more enjoyable by meeting some friends for dinner or drinks first. If you are adventurous, why not scope out the latin party this Friday at That’s Dancing Ballroom in Jessup. Update from SalsaNow -> Tabrizi’s has their own private lot for Marina and the restaurant – so there’s plenty of parking there. You can only get in by pressing the Tabrizi’s call button and wait for them to open the gate to park the car. The neighborhood is safe and beautiful and the lot is 50 feet away from the building.

What’s New this week? On Thursday, we’re headed to the waterfront party at Tabrizi’s. This will be the new home of SalsaNow on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays. On Friday, get your fix for a latin mix at Latin Palace. On Saturday, join us for Jesus and Nicole’s much anticipated Salsa Jam at Stageworkz in Millersville (BYOB). On Sunday, bring the family to Oregon Ridge for a Salsalicious evening beginning at 5pm. Then, continue the party at Cancun Cantina to the sounds of Antonio Pablo y La Firma. For those who live further South like Ed Rosado, I have some exciting news for you. On Tuesdays beginning September 15, Von is sponsoring a Salsa night at Tradewinds in Temple Hills. On Thursdays beginning September 17, DanceInTime’s Salsa Rueda classes are back on schedule at UMCP’s Stamp Student Union.

Your Baltimore Salsa Meetup organizers are looking to add one or two more Salsaholics to the team. What’s New This Week? On Wednesday, the Baltimore Salsa Meetup is headed to B-Lounge. Then, on Friday, we’re partying with Instructor Tabitha at her house (contact me for details). As I mentioned in an earlier post when Si Salsa’s night was cancelled, SalsaNow is scouting out new places for us to dance. For example, this Saturday, we’re checking out Clutch Lounge located in Canton at 900 South Kenwood Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21224. Then, the following week we’re holding events at Tabrizi’s on the water and Oregon Ridge in Cockeysville. Who knows what they have in store for us next. If you missed last week’s post, I am now listing Saturday classes and monthly parties held at “That’s Dancing” in Jessup. This week, I’ve added a listing for a latin and swing combination class at the Towson YMCA that begins August 31.

What’s New this week? On Thursday, Susan Leiter is teaching an Intermediate Salsa class at La Palapa. On Friday, the Baltimore Salsa Meetup is headed to Belvedere Square to dance to the sounds of Mambo Combo. Do not go to Austin Grill this Friday or any Friday. This venue is cancelled. For the adventurous ones, gather some friends, jump in a van, and drive to New York to See Marc Anthony in concert. Or, stay local and enjoy Grupo Saoco at the 13th Floor. If you live in the Jessup area, I have some great news for you. That’s Dancing Ballroom and Dancesport Center is offering an 8 week Salsa series – all levels – beginning Saturday, September 19. What’s new this week? Zen West, Salsa Block Party, Bachata Congress, DWG lessons, Salsa on 2, and Mari Luna. Were you at Boordy’s with us last weekend? My best guess is that there were 700 people. An excellent turnout with perfect weather, lots of wine, great food, and live Salsa music thanks to Mambo Combo. We’re proud to have them as members of the Baltimore Salsa Meetup. They will be playing once again at Belvedere Square on August 21. Claudia’s birthday party at The Salsa Room (TSR) in Virginia was off the hook. We had a special area reserved just for us. This is worth mentioning since most people never have the luxury of finding a seat in that place.

For this week, pay careful attention so you know where to find us. Enjoy an evening of dinner and dancing at Zen West on Thursday. On Friday, skip Austin Grill, because we won’t be there and neither will Sean. Instead, Baltimore salseros are in for an awesome night at Claudia and Rico’s Salsa Block Party at The Towson Dance Studio. No need to pay for expensive drinks at the bar or hide bottled water in your shoe bag. This party is BYOB with water provided. Plus, you will love the dance floor. Lessons include Salsa on2 and Rueda. Why not come early enough for the lesson and try something new? I’ll be hosting this meetup. If we’ve never met, please introduce yourself. After a few hours of rest, take advantage of lessons at the Promenade Saturday afternoon with Grace Badillo from Dancing With Grace, who recently relocated to Florida (details below). Or, expand your Salsa repertoire and take Mambo lessons (Salsa on2). The first of many lessons begin this Saturday afternoon at The Towson Dance Studio. On Sunday, join your meetup friends for the SalsaNow Rooftop Party at Mari Luna on Reisterstown Road. For an intense dance experience, I recommend attending the 1st DC Bachata Congress which takes place Friday through Sunday (chair dancing and zumba are also in the line up).
